A
The Lancashire Rams are one of the best university teams in the country and compete in BUCS Northern Tier 1 across the north of England. The current squad consists of players new to the game and sports scholars who have GB experience. In addition, the team has the opportunity to compete in the BUCS National Trophy competition. Competing in BUCS Indoors and Outdoors Competitions, UCLan Archery also compete locally in the North of England Universities Archery League (NEUAL). With sports scholars in the club, and individuals with international experience, the club host a beginners course each year, and equipment is provided. Competitions have experienced and novice categories, so even if you are new to the Sport there are opportunities to get involved.
From Sprinting to Cross Country, Discus to Shot put, the University Athletics Club compete at BUCS National Indoors and Outdoors and additional competitions throughout the year. In 2025, the club proudly achieved their 1st silver medals in BUCS outdoors for individual athletes.

Our newly promoted Women’s Badminton team, who were also our 2025 Team of the Year, will compete in BUCS Northern Tier 1 for the 25-26 season, with the Men’s team competing in Northern Tier 3. Both teams also compete in the Northern Conference Cup. In addition to regular team competition, there is the opportunity to represent Team Lancashire in the BUCS national individual event.
Known informally as “The Pigeons”, the club was formed in 2021, and they are the only university Baseball and Softball Club in the northwest of England. Competing in Northern Tier 1, there will be 1 Baseball team, and 2 Softball teams entered for the 25-26 season. The softball teams play indoors and outdoors and for both sports, there is the opportunity to compete in the BUCS nationals at the National Baseball & Softball Centre at Farnham Park.
One of our focal sport clubs, Men’s Basketball have 2 competitive teams, the 1st team compete in BUCS Northern Tier 1 and the 2nd team are in BUCS Northern Tier 3. In addition, the teams have the opportunity to compete in the BUCS National Trophy (1st team) or the Northern Conference Cup (2nd team).
As one of our focal sports, Women’s Basketball have 2 competitive teams, the 1st team compete in BUCS Northern Tier 2 and the newly formed 2nd team are in BUCS Northern Tier 3. In addition, the teams have the opportunity to compete in the BUCS Northern Conference Cup.

The Lancashire Tigers were formed in 2007 and are one of the biggest clubs at the University. Boasting an impressive track record of wins in BCA, Future Cheer and Legacy competitions, one of their most recent was becoming national champions at both BCA and Future Cheer for Level 3 co-ed stunt in 2023.
Training indoors throughout the winter, and competing in spring each year, the Cricket team plan to compete in BUCS from 26-27 season.

The University has 2 equestrian teams, competing in the BUCS Championship and Trophy competitions. Utilising the facilities and horses stabled at Myerscough Equestrian Centre the teams compete at stables across the north of England, and host at least 2 home competitions per year.

With 7 competitive teams across 2 campuses, the Men’s Football club is one of the biggest at the university. 1st team BUCS Northern Tier 3, 2nd at Myerscough in Tier 4, 3rd/4th in Tier 5, 5th in Tier 6, 6th/7th in Tier 7 (one for IFG). All teams can compete in BUCS Northern Conference Cup, Trophy or Plate.
Team Lancashire Women’s Football club consists of 2 teams who compete in BUCS tiers 2 and 5. Teams also compete in BUCS Northern Conference Cup, Trophy or Plate.
We have 2 Men’s Futsal teams competing in BUCS leagues. 1st team now in northern tier 2, new 2nd team in tier 4. Both compete in Northern Conference Cup.
The Women’s Futsal team compete in northern tier 2 and have a strong international contingent, with many squad members from the IFG programme.

Based at Myerscough campus, but open to all students, there are 3 golf teams. 1st & 2nd teams in BUCS northern tier 1, 3rd in tier 2. Home venues are Royal Lytham St Annes or Lytham Green Drive.

Compete in BUCS northern tier 3 and were Northern Conference Cup winners in 23-24. Some team members also play for Preston Hockey via coach links. No previous experience necessary, some sticks available.
Achieved promotion; will compete in BUCS northern tier 3 25-26. Northern Conference Cup winners 23-24. No equipment needed (sticks available).

2 teams competing in BUKC for 25-26. 5 events including qualifiers. Vehicles provided as part of competition, valid race licence required.

2 competitive teams in BUCS. 1st team promoted, will play in Tier 1 for 25-26, 2nd in tier 7. Both have BUCS northern Conference Trophy and Cup fixtures.

Competitions for individuals and teams: 2 BUCS events per year (short course & long course). Regional galas throughout year. Opportunity to swim alongside future Olympians. Work with Preston Swim Club Masters for training and pool time.

3 teams in BUCS + individual National Championship. Women's 1st in BUCS northern Tier 1, Men's 1st promoted to Tier 1, Women's 2nd in Tier 2. All compete in BUCS conference trophies and cup.
Welcoming beginners to elite bouncers, compete in annual BUCS National Championship and university events across UK (NEUT Leagues). Train at Preston City Trampoline Club (PCTC), short walk from campus.
